OUR MISSION
From engaging with queer womxn entrepreneurs and working professionals in our network, we discovered that:
80% reported that they lack access to queer womxn-centric spaces to network, 60% cited the lack of access to business development skills and funding as the key reason to stunted business growth, 80% struggle to find visible, like-identifying and supportive mentors.

As co-founders, we come from different backgrounds and career paths.
We were united by our common drive to increase the number and success of African queer womxn in business.

As a nonprofit organization, Queer Women in Business + Allies is a community of 1000+ entrepreneurs and working professionals with a mission to empower and advance each other through access.
ACTIVITIES
We execute our mission by creating experiences and opportunities for our community to connect, collaborate and ignite action towards building thriving businesses and careers.
CHAPTERS
Our goal is to build a supportive ecosystem of queer womxn entrepreneurs, investors and working professionals to help each other thrive.

The QWB+A chapters are local meet ups that take place in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg South Africa, with a new international chapter launching in 2020!
2020 SUMMIT
The QWB+A 2020 Summit brings together attendees and speakers from various industries and background for networking, talks, workshops and the annual QWB+A Startups Pitch Challenge.

With the theme, "Queer womxn and the future of work, connecting beyond borders", our 2020 summit will take place on 7 & 8 November at Uber South Africa in Johannesburg.

More 2020 summit details coming soon.
STARTUPS PITCH CHALLENGE
Although there is an increasing number of African female founders, only 4.5% of startup deals since 2018 involved female founders. This number is unknown for queer womxn founders.

It was thus no surprise when we discovered that over 60% of our queer womxn entrepreneurs in our network stated that the lack of access to business development coaching and funding is a leading cause of stunted business growth.

The QWB+A Startups Pitch Challenge is a 6 week virtual accelerator and pitch competition for queer womxn identifying entrepreneurs.

"We are honored to partner with QWB+A because as a tech company we understand first hand how tech can be exclusionary for not only minorities working or trying to gain access to the tech space but inadvertently the end user/client and their user experience of a tech product if it's not designed with them in mind. Being a part of this summit means we can help try amplify the need for the tech industry to include more queer and black women in the space and industry."
